5.6 Child Protection Conference Agenda

  1. Purpose of the Conference- Welcome and Introduction by the Chairperson. 

    A brief explanation of what the meeting is about and how it is going to be conducted will be given.

  2. Information Sharing - All Conference Members to Participate.

    1. Consider the context of the concerns and the impact on the child.
    2. Chronology of significant events for the child and/or family, including contacts with statutory agencies.
    3. Child’s wishes and feelings.
    4. Parent/carer’s views and intentions.
    5. Chairperson will summarise the information and identify the particular issues to be considered.

  3. Assessment and Analysis of Concerns and Risks to Children- All Conference Members to Participate.

  4. Summary and Conclusion - Chairperson of Conference.

  5. Do the Identified Concerns and Risks to the Child Require Protective Action? - Members of the Conference Representing the Statutory Agencies Participate in Making the Decision to Register or Not. 

    Lead Social Worker and core group to be identified if appropriate. 

    If a decision is reached that a child’s name is not to be subject to a Child Protection Plan, the conference will consider what arrangements are needed to provide help and support to the family, including the need for continuing assessment, services and inter-agency work.

  6. Discussion of Plan to Protect the Child- All Conference Members to Participate.

  7. Conference Recommendations to Underpin the Child Protection Plan - All Conference Members to Participate.

  8. Set the Date for the Review Child Protection Conference and the Date for the First Core Group Meeting.
